Hang your head in shame,
promise of home and freedom,
Lady of Liberty, trumped.

up, lifting you upward,
to the light, upward…

In the night words form,
perfect ideas all aligned.
Fleeing at daybreak.

With the ebb and flow,
caught up by the undertow,
